mystery neighbor
So, it's been over a week and I still haven't met my reclusive neighbor across the hall. I know it's a woman, and I know that she likes "faeiries" if the stickers on her car are any indication. I know she has a cat, because I see his orange head peering out behind the screen door on her patio. I keep waiting to hear her footsteps so I can take the opportunity to introduce myself, but she hasn't left the apartment once yet as far as I can tell. She's home when I leave in the morning and she's home when I get back from work. I was starting to think she was dead, honestly, and wondered who would be the appropriate person to notify. Then today, a break in the case; for the first time, I hear something coming from her apartment: she's listening to Pink and singing along. LOUDLY. I don't think I want to know her, after all.
why i'll be drinking myself into a stupor when 6 o'clock hits
i really don't know why i work in a profession that requires me to speak to people. especially stupid people, which is most of our clients. i just had a woman call me for the fourth time in twenty minutes to ask me how to get to our office. after calmly giving her the address (well, as calmly as i could for having been asked the same fucking question four times in a row) and directions, she proceeded to tell me where she was. repeatedly.
me: "ma'am, we're at 6666 harwin."
her: "well, i'm at 8600 harwin..."
me: "so.. if you travel down the block coming towards 59, you'll see us on the right."
her: "well, i'm at 8600 harwin..."
NEED. VACATION. NOW.

surely i can't be the only one who has done this
or maybe i am just some special breed of lame. it entertains me though! what i mean is that sometimes when i'm somewhere particularly scenic and some epic song comes on my ipod, i pretend i'm in a music video or movie. right now i'm downtown waiting for my bus to the tune of "bibo no aozora" by ryuichi sakamoto and somehow it doesn't feel as poignant as the scene it was taken from in babel, although i suspect that is largely due to the fact that there's a homeless guy eating cheetos and flowin' right next to me.

funny enough
for somebody who plans to never marry, i sure do have a lot of "perfect wedding songs" in mind. will supplement this entry with those titles later. i disgust myself with my innate girlishness sometimes.

yeah
why am i drawn to people as equally lost as i am? i suppose it makes me feel good to know that i'm not the only one at my age who doesn't have a flippin' clue.
