stand by me
every time i hear ben e. king's "stand by me" now, i cringe because of that bachata version done by prince royce. i can't stand ANY VERSION of it now, and it got me thinking about other songs that i once enjoyed but no longer do because of their shiteous covers. particularly the beatles' "come together" (thanks to aerosmith) and the monkees' "i'm a believer" (thanks to smash mouth). i know there are others, but i'm lazy. feel free to supplement.

I'm glad I've never heard that Aerosmith version, although a lot of shitty bands do even shittier covers of Beatles songs. Shatner too.
