i’m the type of person who, when entering an empty elevator, will press the “close door” button in a frenzy so that the person I hear approaching will miss it.
it rarely works, though. my mom told me once that the only reason the “close door” button is there is to placate people and make them think they have some little bit of control. but, in elevators, there is no control.
